Hi Guys,

Has anyone had any experience with this board? It's giving me no end of grief, the latest stable kernel can't see the HDD or the optical drive (both IDE) or the ethernet connection - which means no install. At the moment I'm halfway through compiling 2.6.23-rc5 to see if that will help.

If anyone has any suggestions or experiences regarding this board it would be much appreciated.

Update: It's now running a netboot 2.6.23-rc5 system (I chucked in a PCI network card), but it still can't see any IDE devices or the onboard ethernet. lspci shows up tons of unknown devices, although all of them have the manufacturer and device type listed.

Im guessing the correct drivers for that particular chipset aren't in the kernel yet. Looking on google, I'd also say the drivers have yet to be written as it is a fairly new board. I guess you'll just have to wait sorry
You use Debian? You may have to take a look at Debian testing, or unstable, or maybe even check out http://www.kernel.org/ changelogs to see if the appropriate drivers have been added to the latest release of the kernel

Have a look at this Gentoo Wiki on a similar board. It has the same ethernet controller.

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection (rev 02)

That was the first thing I tried (I normally run testing anyway), I even tried the experimental tree. No go.

This was where I got 2.6.23-rc5 from - and that kernel still has no drivers

. Unless there are third-party modules somewhere it looks like it's time to play the waiting game

It's not the same controller - I have tried the e1000 driver but the damn thing refuses to show up, so I'm using an el cheapo realtek PCI card for now.

Weird. Wonder why the Intel specs for your board give a different controller? They must have revised some specifications.

Problem with such new hardware like this, you have to wait until someone whips up some drivers for it. Intel are pretty good with Linux support so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Update: 11 kernel compiles later, I now have everything working except the onboard ethernet . It just required a bit of massaging with some nonstandard configure options, and while I was at it I took the opportunity to nuke all the stuff I don't want or need. It now compiles in 8 minutes flat

humn i don't normally use kernel so don't really know, but instead i normally use ubuntu. ubuntu works every hard drives i plug in whether internally or externally

This is a little more complex than hard drives, which don't actually require drivers. Also, 'Kernel' isn't a type of linux, the kernel a part of all linux flavours including Ubuntu. Ie, Ubuntu has a kernel.
