Boost Wireless signal?

Hi

My Microsoft wireless keyboard signal is kinda week despite being 1 metre away.

Battery has been replaced.

Are there any device that can accept the wireless device signal and then give it a boost?

If this is a newly-bought keyboard, I suggest you return it to the store where you bought it from and ask for a replacement / refund.

Could interference from other waves emitted by other devices be a culprit here? Perhaps something is blocking the signals from transferring to and forth from your computer such as lead etc.

Typically you cannot increase the signal without another device (linear amp comes to mind) and then you can probably get a signal to the northern hemisphere if it's strong enough.

Are you sure you are not wearing an aluminum foil hat?

All kidding aside: if there's a local problem...like a microwave signal blanking you out, or you live underneath the umbrella of a radar dish from the gvt, then you indeed do not have a defective unit.

If you're being denied at least line-of-sight, short distance connections, then the unit is truly defective.

In possible doubt here that it might be defective at the range you are trying to use.......was it EVER recognized by the puter? It has to show on post, I think with an error message that there's no keyboard attached.

Try this, at a range you KNOW it fails, try a reboot and see what error message you get.

LEAD? I don't feel LEAD could be much of a culprit...unless it's being used in a lead mine.

There just cannot be enough lead in a residence for that happenstance. I am, of course assuming this question comes from a civilized part of the world and not a lead-lined missile silo.

Perhaps you mean some other metal? Strontium-90? U-235? Spent fuel rods?

Any form of "booster" is illegal. Cordless devices like that are permitted (and type-approved) on the basis of their very low power.

If it doesn't work to specification, there's something wrong with it.


Joe, any metal foil, even lead, surrounding the thing would stop the electric field. But it would have to be completely wrapped: UHF is small, and gets through small holes.

This type wireless should be infrared (IR) one.
I have one of mouse.
The maximun working distance is only 1.5m and no obstacle between them.
My xmas wish gifts is bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
They can operate 10m away, good for TV.
